MOCSA BACK-TO-SCHOOL PROJECT

In the wake of the growing challenges and in order to preserve the next generation of leaders and save the larger society, MOCSA embarked on the idea of taking children from selling on the streets and placing them in schools. Additionally, MOCSA provided support, including copy books, book bags, and other school materials to underprivileged children, as well as provided teaching materials to school administrations.  The project was named “MOCSA – Back to School Project” and was executed in three (3) counties, namely Montserrado, Bomi, and Grand Cape Mount.  The project kicked off in September 2019 and lasted for a period of four months, with the first phase ending in December 2019.

MOCSA sent the children to school while at the same time providing parents with small businesses to be sold at home or provided alternative skills training for these parents.  Twenty-three (23) homes were provided small grants of about ten thousand Liberian dollars each (L$10,000.00) to begin small home businesses such as plantain chips, cold water, fire coal, etc.  An additional ten (10) households benefited from skill training including soap making and baking.  Over thirty-five (35) children were removed from selling in the streets and placed in schools in their respective counties (Montserrado, Bomi, and Grand Cape Mount)

On Friday, October 4, 2019, MOCSA – Foundation presented several items to Kollieman Town, Bensonville, Montserrado County.  The items were donated to the United Christian Mission School, and these included bundles of zinc, nails, cement, desks, and copy books, among other assorted items. The donation was in line with the aims and objectives of MOCSA to support community-led initiatives that provide children with basic health care, education and training while helping families and communities become self-sufficient.

MOCSA  work in specific counties and communities based on situational context. Our focus is in

to traditional beliefs and the remaining counties Bong, Margibi, and Nimba with huge commercial sex
