Making Our Children Safe Again Foundation (MOCSA) is a registered non-profit organization in Liberia, dedicated to creating a safe and dignified future for all children in the country. Established in September 2019, MOCSA operates independently and remains politically and denominationally neutral. The foundation is officially recognized by various government entities, including the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, and the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation. Liberia, a nation still recovering from the consequences of a ten-year civil war, faced unexpected challenges in the form of the Ebola epidemic in 2014 and the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. These crises have exacerbated the struggles faced by women and children, leaving them without adequate welfare and social protection. Many single parents are overwhelmed, experiencing a loss of moral values and lacking the resources to support their children, making it impossible to finance their education. With approximately two million children under the age of 18 affected in a country with a population of around five million, Liberia's future is at stake. The vulnerability of Liberian children to preventable diseases is a significant concern, and the country also experiences high rates of maternal mortality and deaths of children under the age of 5. Addressing these issues is crucial for the sustainable development of Liberia. MOCSA's primary objective is to ensure a safe and dignified future for all children, regardless of their ethnicity, socio-economic background, religion, culture, or social status. To achieve this, MOCSA plans to establish collaborations with diverse partners, including donors, philanthropists, community groups, and volunteers. By working together with these stakeholders, MOCSA aims to make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of Liberia's children, ultimately contributing to the overall development of the country. • Vision To be the recognized and credible development organization in Liberia noted for sustainable community development, with a special focus on women, children and youth, respecting inclusion, and impartiality in a transparent and accountable way. • Mission To enable vulnerable rural communities, especially women and children to address their basic socio-economic development needs, which are often affected by ill-health, lack of education, and contextual social issues. Mandate • MOCSA’s mandate is self-given and stems from the devastation and extreme socio-economic vulnerability faced by underserved and disadvantaged communities and persons, especially in rural Liberia. Trends in Liberia’s recent development show all sectors are negatively impacted by the crises in the past and the prevailing socio-economic situation. • MOCSA works in areas of Cape Mount, Margibi and Montserrado counties where children’s access to education and health care is limited. MOCSA’s focus is on the less fortunate, such as street and disabled children and their families.
MOCSA Mobile Health Services Transforming Healthcare Access in Cheesemanburg, Montserrado County

Mocsa Foundation provided Healthcare for the disabilities at the school of Deaf and Blind in the Mango town community in Browerville.

In many parts of Liberia, access to healthcare remains a daunting challenge, particularly for individuals living with disabilities. Hindered by financial constraints and limited mobility, they often find themselves grappling with the dual burden of health complications and inadequate medical attention. However, amidst these adversities, rays of hope emerge, one such beacon being the MOCSA Foundation. On a transformative mission to alleviate the healthcare plight of Liberia's disabled population, the MOCSA Foundation orchestrates impactful medical outreach initiatives. In a recent testament to their unwavering commitment, the foundation's mobile clinic embarked on a poignant journey to the heart of the Mango town community in Browerville. On December 27, the Liberian School of Deaf served as the epicenter of this noble endeavor, as over 70 individuals with disabilities received a lifeline of free healthcare services. In a landscape where such provisions are scarce, if not entirely absent, this outreach emerged as a symbol of compassion and inclusivity. Beyond merely addressing medical needs, MOCSA Foundation went the extra mile by ensuring that no stomach remained empty. Alongside healthcare services, nourishing meals were provided, acknowledging the holistic requirements of each patient. The impact of this outreach extended far beyond the tangible services rendered. It spoke volumes about the ethos of empathy and solidarity that underpins MOCSA Foundation's endeavors. By breaking down barriers to healthcare access, the foundation not only heals bodies but also nurtures hope and dignity within the disabled community. The significance of such initiatives cannot be overstated. They serve as catalysts for change, challenging societal norms and advocating for a more equitable healthcare landscape. Through their concerted efforts, MOCSA Foundation not only addresses immediate healthcare needs but also ignites a ripple effect of empowerment and resilience within Liberia's disabled community. As we reflect on the transformative power of compassion and collective action, let us not forget the invaluable contributions of organizations like MOCSA Foundation. In their tireless pursuit of a healthier and more inclusive society, they inspire us all to stand in solidarity with the marginalized and vulnerable, ensuring that no one is left behind in the journey towards a brighter, healthier future.
